Dr. Reem Al-Zoubi participates in the Third Forum of the Cultural Work Group for Arab Cities at the Greater Amman Municipality.

The Deputy Mayor of Amman, Mohammad Al-Qaisi, representing the Mayor, inaugurated the third Arabic Language Forum under the title “Our Arabic Language on the Hills of Amman” at the Al-Hussein Cultural Center.

The forum, organized by the Cultural Work Group for Arab Cities on the occasion of Arabic Language Day, aims to highlight the importance of the Arabic language in cultural and scientific fields as an integral part of our cultural heritage. It seeks to promote its status, revive and preserve it, encourage its use, and showcase it as a dynamic language capable of keeping pace with development and creativity.

Dr. Manal Al-Abdallat, Director-General of the Cultural Work Group, commended the role of the Greater Amman Municipality in supporting cultural and creative endeavors. She emphasized that Arabic is a cornerstone of civilization, surpassing other languages in its sanctity and religious symbolism, and it is a language of knowledge and work.

She also noted that attention to the Arabic language and the enhancement of its status are among the top priorities of the Hashemite leadership. Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II has been a pioneer in promoting Arabic as a global language, preserving its brilliance, empowering it digitally, and enriching Arabic content online through the “Language of Dhad” initiative.

The forum brought together experts, intellectuals, and writers to discuss the significance of language, culture, and identity in strengthening national values, supporting efforts to spread Arab culture, and solidifying the status of Arabic among global languages.

During its sessions, the forum addressed several research papers. The first was presented by Dr. Samir Sittieh, titled “The Impact of Communicative Linguistics in Unifying the Arabic Tongue in Arab Cities.” This was followed by a paper by Dr. Mohammad Ali Yaghan, titled “Arabic Writing in Vertical Style.”

Dr. Salem Dahham from the Ministry of Culture presented a paper titled “Language and Identity,” while Dr. Reem Al-Zoubi discussed “The Role of Media in Preserving the Arabic Language.” Dr. Mohammad Wasif, Assistant President of the University of Jordan for Cultural Affairs, presented a paper titled “The Sung Arabic Poem.”

Al-Qaisi presented honorary shields to the participants in the discussion sessions, recognizing their efforts and contributions in promoting the status of the Arabic language.

On the sidelines of the forum, an art exhibition was held, showcasing artworks featuring Arabic calligraphy in vertical style, highlighting the beauty of Arabic letters and the elegance of Arabic script.
