Student Affairs Deanship Holds Debate Championship for Central and Northern Universities
Sponsored by the Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Ahmed Al-Alimat, Al al-Bayt University, through the Deanship of Student Affairs/Department of Political Education, Educational Guidance and Social Affairs, and in cooperation with the Dialogue and Debate Club, organized the Central and Northern Universities Debate Championship, in the presence of students and supervisors of the participating teams, in addition to neutral referees from trainers from outside the framework of the participating universities.
The championship was held in the Hassan bin Talal Amphitheater at the university, with wide participation from nine public and private universities, as part of activities aimed at spreading the culture of debate and promoting constructive dialogue among university students, and its activities will continue for three days.
The Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Ahmed Al-Alimat, welcomed the participants during the opening, wishing them success in the championship competitions, noting that this event represents a distinct opportunity for dialogue and constructive discussion between students, and a field for testing their ideas and developing their creative abilities and refining their skills. He affirmed the university's continued support for students to be up to the challenges in building an advanced knowledge society, calling for adhering to the spirit of fair competition and providing the best they have.
The Director of the Department of Political Education, Educational Guidance and Social Affairs, Mr. Abdul Halim Abu Dalbouh, presented a full explanation of the championship system, pointing out that it is being held for the first time at the level of Al al-Bayt University, and will continue for three days.
The head of the Dialogue and Thought Club, student Qusai Alimat, recited the championship instructions to the participating teams and presented a brief overview of the club’s work and its main tracks in preparation, organization and development, and the specialized training, championships and internal debates it carries out.
In turn, student Lama Smara presented a clarification on the championship system and the instructions for speakers, participants and the mechanism of the rounds.
At the conclusion of the opening, which was attended by a number of directors of departments in the Deanship of Student Affairs, an explanatory video was presented that included the training that the Al al-Bayt University team underwent, in addition to the preparations for the championship, followed by a draw to distribute the participating teams, marking the start of the competitions in the Activities and Conferences Building at the university.
