Lecture on nature poetry in Jordan "Haiku"

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Al al-Bayt University holds a lecture on nature poetry in Jordan "Haiku"


The Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Al al-Bayt University, in cooperation with the Mafraq Culture Directorate, hosted Professor Tawfiq Abu Khamis from the Jordanian Nature Poets Club "Haiku Jordan" to talk about "Nature Poetry - Haiku."


Professor Tawfiq Abu Khamis presented a definition of nature poetry "Haiku" as a type of traditional Japanese poetry consisting of a short paragraph and a number of phonetic sections. This type of poetry focuses on nature and simple daily moments and their impact on the human soul, using simple, direct language full of reflection, tranquility, and inner peace.


Abu Khamis explained that many Arab poets were influenced by Haiku poetry and many attempts to write it in Arabic have emerged. They also established the Nature Poets Club in 2020 under the name Haiku Jordan due to its spread in the Arab poetry community.


At the end of the lecture, which was attended by the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Anwar Al-Khaldi, the Head of the Cultural Activities Department at the Mafraq Culture Directorate, Khawla Shukri, and moderated by Professor Muntha Taha Al-Harahisha, Professor Tawfiq Abu Khamis presented certificates of appreciation from the administration of the Nature Poets Forum in Jordan to the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Anwar Al-Khaldi, the representative of the Director of the Mafraq Culture Directorate, Khawla Shukri, and the teacher of the Literature Course in Jordan, Professor Muntha Al-Harahisha. The lecturer also answered questions and inquiries from the college students - Literature Course in Jordan.
