Based on the university's mission of openness to civilizations and strengthening communication bridges between nations, the Faculty of Foreign Languages - Department of French, in cooperation with the Department of French Language at the University of Jordan, organized a distinguished cultural celebration on the occasion of the International Day of Francophonie. It was sponsored by the Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Professor Dr. Muhammad Al-Khatib, and a number of faculty members, while it was organized by Professor Dr. Isabelle Bernard from the University of Jordan, with the active participation of students from both universities. It was held in the Al-Hassan bin Talal Amphitheater at the university.
This celebration comes in the context of the university's participation with dozens of countries around the world, in commemorating this international day, which celebrates linguistic and cultural diversity, and highlights the importance of the French language as a language of cultural and intellectual communication.
The ceremony, presented by a number of students, included a diverse selection of cultural, artistic, theatrical, musical, and poetic segments, in addition to interactive cultural riddles, all of which came in a Francophone spirit that reflected the richness and aesthetics of the French language. It also highlighted the importance of learning and practicing it in various fields. Three blind students from the University of Jordan participated in the event, during which they presented a presentation of their personal experience in learning the French language, stressing that will and determination are capable of overcoming challenges, and that language is a bridge towards empowerment and human communication.
The event was well received by the attendees, and formed an inspiring platform for promoting cultural dialogue, and consolidating the status of the French language as a bridge for convergence between peoples.
