Scientific webinar on "Digital Geography and Geographic Artificial Intelligence: Applied Horizons and Future Challenges"

As part of the efforts of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and its scientific activities to keep pace with scientific developments, the Department of Applied Geography organized a scientific symposium entitled (Digital Geography and Geographical Artificial Intelligence: Applied Horizons and Future Challenges).


On behalf of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Professor Saeed Abu Khader, the Vice Dean for Administrative Affairs, Professor Anwar Al-Khaldi, and in the presence of the Head of the Department of Applied Geography, opened the scientific symposium organized by the Department of Applied Geography, with the participation of a number of researchers and scientists at the local and regional levels through the Microsoft Teams program.


In a speech delivered during the opening: The Vice Dean, Dr. Anwar Al-Khaldi, pointed out the importance of such scientific seminars in order to exchange ideas and scientific experiences and the role of Al al-Bayt University in promoting these meetings, stressing the role of artificial intelligence in scientific research, especially with regard to geographical studies in light of modern scientific and technological developments.


For his part, the session director, Head of the Department of Applied Geography, Dr. Ayed Taran, explained that the Department of Geography at Al al-Bayt University is always keen to keep pace with modern technological and technical developments and introduce them into the fields of geographical knowledge, pointing out that geography is one of the sciences most interested in artificial intelligence and its role in addressing many different geographical phenomena and problems and the integration between artificial intelligence and modern geospatial technologies.


A group of scientific papers were presented during the symposium, where the sessions began with a scientific paper entitled (The Impact of the (DeepSeek) System on Geographic Spatial Technologies: A Case Study for Simulating Urban Expansion in Cairo (1972-2022)) presented by Dr. Fayrouz Hassan from Ain Shams University, followed by a scientific paper entitled (Using Geographical Artificial Intelligence Methods in Remote Sensing Applications) presented by Dr. Nermin Shukri from Cairo University. Dr. Maysoun Al-Zghoul from the Department of Geography at Al al-Bayt University also addressed the importance of artificial intelligence applications in geography.


The symposium concluded with a speech by the Head of the Department of Applied Geography, Dr. Ayed Taran, in which he thanked all the participants and attendees at the symposium from all Arab countries, pointing to the great success achieved by the symposium through the huge attendance, which included approximately 400 students, scientists, and researchers at the local and global levels, stressing the readiness to open future cooperation avenues and research partnership between the Department of Applied Geography at Al al-Bayt University and the Departments of Geography in Arab and international universities in the field of geographical artificial intelligence.
