The History Department celebrates Jordanian Flag Day at Al al-Bayt University

As part of Al al-Bayt University's celebrations of Jordanian Flag Day, the Faculty of Arts and Humanities held a seminar entitled "The Symbolism of the Flag and its Importance in the Lives of Peoples." A number of faculty professors discussed the beginnings of the flag throughout history and its importance in the lives of countries and their peoples.

Professor Alyan al-Jaloudi explained that the Jordanian flag in its current form was raised for the first time on April 16, 1928, coinciding with the approval of the first Jordanian constitution for the Emirate of Transjordan on that day. Al-Jaloudi also explained the rules for raising and lowering the flag in state protocols and what each color of the Jordanian flag symbolizes.

The Deputy Dean of the College, Professor Anwar Al-Khaldi, stressed the importance of Jordanian youth being highly aware of those who are lying in wait for Jordan's misfortune. He added that the flag signifies national sovereignty and full independence, and is a symbol of extending authority over the land. For his part, Dr. Omar Al-Khazaaleh participated with a national reflection on the symbols and connotations of the Jordanian flag.

Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Saeed Abu Khader, affirmed that the Jordanian flag embodies national identity, belonging, loyalty, work, and achievement, and that our youth have a responsibility to raise the name of the homeland high and move forward with confidence behind the wise Hashemite leadership.

At the end of the seminar, which was moderated by the Head of the History Department, Dr. Khader Al-Sarhan, and attended by the Deputy Dean, Professor Mahmoud Al-Diki, the Assistant Dean, Dr. Maisoun Al-Zaghoul, heads of departments, and members of the faculty in the college, a competition was held on the history of Jordan, during which the winning students received in-kind prizes.
