Poet Professor Dr. Harbi Al-Masri wins the Habib Al-Zyoudi Poetry Award for the best poetry collection.

The Greater Amman Municipality announced on Monday the names of the winners of the "Habib Al-Zyoudi Poetry Prize" in its fourth edition for the year 2024. 

Amman Secretary General Dr. Youssef Al-Shawarbeh and the head of the judging committee Dr. Sabri Rabihat handed out the awards to the winning poets in honor of the late prominent Jordanian poet Habib Al-Zyoudi, recognizing his contributions to poetry, particularly his verses celebrating love for the homeland and belonging. 

In his speech, Rabihat reflected on Al-Zyoudi's virtues and cultural and intellectual message, expressing his happiness with the municipality's initiative to organize an award bearing the name of the poet, as a tribute to his legacy and creativity. 

In the category of Best Poetry Collection, poet Harbi Al-Masri won for his collection "In the Cloud of Comfort," poet Jumana Tarawneh won for her collection "Reproach of the Water," and poet Sultan Mohammed won for his collection "No Endings Suit Us." 

For Best Nabati Poem, the first place went to poet Saleem Al-Masa'fa for his poem "The Secret," the second place to poet Hassan Al-Nawafleh for his poem "Description of the Camels," and the third place to poet Mohammed Al-Qatamin for his poem "Gazelle of the Rim." 

In the category of Best Classical Poem, poet Abdul Rahim Kafiah took first place for his poem "Hypothesis for Illusion," the second place went to poet Qasem Al-Duraghmeh for his poem "Perhaps," and the third place to poet Hassan Al-Nabrawi for his poem "Delicious Poison." 

The winner of the Best Poem by Arab Poets Residing in Jordan was Palestinian poet Shafiq Al-Atawna for his poem "Neighing of the Clouds." 

Abdul Hadi Raji Al-Majali, Director of Cultural Facilities and Programs at the Greater Amman Municipality, noted that the award is part of the municipality's role in supporting the cultural and artistic sector in the kingdom, aiming to encourage poets and creatives and boost the cultural movement in Jordan. 

He mentioned that dozens of poets submitted their work for the fourth edition of the award, which was overseen by a specialized committee of poets and literary figures for evaluating and selecting the winners.
