This is a research paper that deals with the expression ?Amma Ba?d? syntactically and semantically. It separates between what is written before it and after it. ?Amma? is a conditional , it can convey confirmation, it isn?t a compound letter and it doesn?t show elaboration. We add ?fa?a? in its answer obligatory and this ?fa?a ? isn?t used in necessary cases and in rare cases. We can say Amma ba?do in nominative cases, Amma ba?dan in accusative cases .Amma ba?don and Amma ba?da can also be used by readers and writers. The history of this expression dates back to the pre-Islamic era. It is difficult to determine the name of the first person who uttered it but it is evident that it was used widely in the Islamic heritage as this heritage helped it to continue and be reserved although it was abandoned by many writers in ancient times as well as the modern time even if the reasons that led to this abandonment are different.
