Intellectual immunity in the light of the hadith of the Prophet
Abstract Intellectual Property Protection (henceforth IPP) ? in the Islamic context ? is the process that regulates and protects products of the intellect and governs knowledge sharing amongst Muslims. This paper investigates IPP in the light of the tradition of prophet Muhammad (Peace and prayers be upon him). To achieve this, the role of guidance provided by prophet Muhammad (PPUH) in regulating products of the intellect and governing knowledge exchange is going to be uncovered through rereading some of his tradition that is within the scope of the study. Thorough investigation of his tradition reveals that IPP has been an aspect of prophet Muhammad (PPUH) life. However, it has not been refereed to as such. Investigation also reveals the most important IPP techniques he reinforced his companions with (May Allah bless them all) in order to protect the identity of the Islamic Ummah.
