The role of religion, money and the sword During the reign of Muawiyah bin Abi Sufyan (41-60 AH / 661-679 AD)

Abstract: This study deals with Muawiyah's view of governance and examins his policy in consolidating the pillars of the state. The research shows the ways and means that he used including religion. dissemination and promotion of the idea of Deferment (Irja'a),and God destiny to prepare the nation to accept the reality. The study explains his philosophy in dealing with the money and harnessing it for his personal benefit to achieve his aspirations to consolidate authority and win over assistants. And it touches on his methods of dealing with his subjects in different ways, including wisdom and savvy sometimes and the sword at other times. The study leads to important results that the researcher recorded at the end of the research.
