The Level of Readability of Arabic Language Book of the Basic Seventh Class in Jordan
Abstract This study aimed to identify the level of readability of the textbook ?Our Arabic Language? for the Seventh Grade in Jordan. Study members were (270) seventh grade male and female students who were studying in the schools of the Directorate of Education in Al-Mafraq district. The students were selected from eight governmental schools using the random cluster method. To measure the readability of the textbook, the researchers prepared a test of the close type, while to determine the relationship between academic achievement and the degree of readability of the textbook, an achievement test was constructed. Study results showed that the readability of the textbook ?Our Arabic Language? fall with the frustration level. Moreover, the literacy texts in the textbook of ?Our Arabic Language? are not graded according their readability degree. The results showed statistically significant differences in the degree of readability of the textbook in favor of female students. Moreover, there was a statistically significant positive correlation between the academic achievement of the students and the degree of readability of the textbook.
