D3S- Drone Security Surveillance System for Connected Drone Environment
Advances in technology have resulted in significant growth in automated robots, sensors, electronics, and other connected devices. As a result, the difficulty and expense of producing such devices have decreased. The cost of producing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) or drones has plummeted, and the market for UAVs or drones has reached an all-time high. Various types of drones have been introduced to date ranging from commercial drones to drones for personal use cases. Since the development and deployment of drones have increased significantly, there is a potential security concern. This research proposes a Drone Security Surveillance System (D3S) that uses a sensor with a software-defined radio networking working in radio frequencies to combat drones that are deployed illegally and in sensitive areas. To detect the presence of drones within the required range, we integrate the Software-Defined Radio (SDR) with a Raspberry Pi microcontroller and the required sensors. With the help of a passive antenna, the SDR will sequence the radio frequencies from the drone whenever the drone is within the range. We can integrate the data decoded from radio frequencies into the application interface for a userfriendly system. Considering public concerns over privacy, this sensor system provides security, privacy, and safety. The system utilises a passive antenna, so whenever a drone is present, the SDR quickly identifies the drone through signal interference. Unlike most prior systems, which only detect drones on either the 2.4 or 5.8 GHz bands, D3S system detects drones on both the 2.4 and 5.8 GHz bands. This research is implemented with raspberry pi hardware in handling all the operations and depicts the processing of radio frequencies that are transferred between the drones and their controller in a methodical manner. Result analysis attest the benefits of the proposed D3S system in terms of range of drone related metrics.
