Selective Internal Migration in Jordan: An Analytical Study for the Central Region Based on 2015 Data
This study aimed to reveal the extent of the change that occurred in the trends of internal migration at the level of the Central Region of Jordan (Amman, Balqa, Zarqa, Madaba), the study aimed to identify the most important demographic, educational, and professional characteristics of immigrants coming to the Central Region of Jordan. Researchers relied upon the results of the general population and housing census for the year 2015 with regard to internal migration and its characteristics according to the lifetime migration approach. The study also resorted to using various migration measures (total migration, net migration, effectiveness of migration, measure of difference). The results of the study concluded that the Capital Governorate is considered one of the attractive governorates according to 2015 data, after it was repellent in 1994. The results of the analysis of the demographic characteristics of immigrants also showed a high percentage of female immigrants in the young age group (15-64) years old in all governorates of the Central Region.
