Assessment and Management of Hazardous Flash Floods in Wadi Bisha Basin / Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Using Morphometric Ranking Method and Geospatial Techniques
his study aims primarily to assess and manage the hazardous flash floods in Wadi Bisha basin, which is one of the largest wadis in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). The Wadi is located in the southwestern region of the Kingdom, a region which often suffers from irregular flooding that poses a threat to urban settlements and infrastructure. The findings of this study may contribute to the effort of disaster management and flood-risk reduction in Wadi Bisha basin and similar highly susceptible areas. In addition, it was found that more attention should be paid to the protection of the infrastructure and built-up areas in the basin by establishing hydrological stations, expanding water harvesting projects, managing water gathered in areas most exposed to the risk of flooding, as well as allowing the construction of water wells near residential buildings that are situated in vulnerable areas
